Radford Animal Hospital is known for our comprehensive and compassionate veterinary care for a wide variety of local pets. Our vets, Dr. Mark Newman and Dr. Carol Hansen, understand that pets are a big part of our local families' lives. When your pet becomes sick, you want the best care possible. Unfortunately, some people simply cannot afford quality veterinary care, and often have to make difficult decisions regarding the health of their beloved pets. That is why our veterinarian near Radford decided to create the RAH Angel Fund for injured or ill pets in need.
Our Angel Fund is a pet care donation program that can help fund veterinary medical care and procedures, to assist pet owners who otherwise might not be able to afford the costs. It was founded in April 2011 when the Radford VA area was hit by a tornado, affecting families and their pets. Paco, a little Chihuahua who was injured in the tornado, needed extensive surgery. Our veterinary team reached out to the local community and pet owners to request donations for this desperately needed care.
The response was overwhelming. Not only did we collect enough for Paco’s surgery, but there was also some money remaining in the fund. We decided it could be put to good use to help other pets in similar conditions, and thus the Angel Fund was born.
Since its beginning, the Angel Fund has grown in many ways we could have never imagined. Our full-service pet medical facility may help families in need with pet care by providing pet vaccinations, pet dental care, urgent care, spay or neuter pet surgery, flea and tick treatment, and nutritional guidance.
We also raised money through the Angel Fund to equip local fire departments with pet oxygen masks for use during house fires. In addition, we use money from the fund to help stray animals with serious injuries get back on the road to health and wellness.
If you would like to support the important work we do to help animals in need in our area, contributions to the Angel Fund may be made by sending a check to:
